Unlike the Nationalmuseum's collection of French paintings from the 17th century that has been acquired only recently, the collection from the 18th century dates from the museum's inception due to the renewed interest in French culture at the time. For this reason, the Nationalmuseum is fortunate to possess an collection of nearly 350 paintings from masters such as Watteau, Chardin, Boucher, Fragonard, Rigaud, Pesne, Oudry, and La Tour, all exquisitely depicted and described in this monumental book.
